November 9 Las Palmas del Mar

November 9  I enlarged ALL the photos in the entire blog this evening, as I found out it was easy!

When I called Jeanine yesterday on her birthday, she asked me how warm it was here in Puerto Rico. I checked when I woke up this morning.  It is 83 now (feels like 90, acc'd to weather.com) , climbing to 87 today.  At night it slips all the way to 77 degrees.  The humidity is 68% and there is a 20% chance of rain today.  We definitely need the air conditioning.

What a great day!  I'm a happy camper!

We decided to rent a golf cart for our last day here (only $30/day) and quickly joined the fast track!  That's not exactly true as they only go about 20 mph, but we joined the others zipping merrily along.

There are few guests here at Las Palmas del Mar, probably because it is still the end of hurricane season.  We drove on many less used trails, among the homes of the elite, just outside of the main compound.  They were gorgeous, with spectacular views, these grand estates.  Returning to the main campus, we went many places unavailable to us in a car, winding in and around the 46+ separate resorts located here.
The building on the right is the Yacht Club
We ended up at a beach bar/cafe, and sat outside in the shade on the beach for lunch.  It was heavenly, with a lovely breeze, making the heat quite tolerable.  Jim was especially pleased with the Long Island Iced Tea.  The bartender kept looking over her shoulder at the manager, and adding more alcohol, smiling at Jim.  She later said that it was gin, Vodka, triple sec and Barcardi Rum with lemonade and a bit of Coca Cola for colorimg.  Jim said that it was well over an ounce of each type of alcohol, coming up to about 2/3 of the glass.  Then, as he drank it, she refilled it for free from the overabundance she had poured in the mixer.  Wow!
When I get home and can edit this properly with Photoshop, I'll straighten it.
Jim entertained himself for awhile with the camp robbers, breaking off tiny bits of french fries and watching the ensuing fights as they scrambled to get his meager offerings.

Need I say that when we returned to our room, Jim took a nap?

No more writing tonight as we have much to do...dinner, swimming, laundry, packing, and even an evening ride in our golf cart.
